An Anisoptropic Surface Remeshing Strategy Combining Higher Dimensional Embedding with Radial Basis Functions

چکیده
Many applications heavily rely on piecewise triangular meshes to describe complex surface geometries. High-quality meshes significantly improve numerical simulations. In practice, however, one often has to deal with several challenges. Some regions in the initial mesh may be overrefined, others too coarse. Additionally, the triangles may be too thin or not properly oriented. We present a novel mesh adaptation procedure which greatly improves the problematic input mesh and overcomes all of these drawbacks. By coupling surface reconstruction via radial basis functions with the higher dimensional embedding surface remeshing technique, we can automatically generate anisotropic meshes. Moreover, we are not only able to fill or coarsen certain mesh regions but also align the triangles according to the curvature of the reconstructed surface. This yields an acceptable trade-off between computational complexity and accuracy. c © 2016 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Space-time radial basis function collocation method for one-dimensional advection-diffusion problem
The parabolic partial differential equation arises in many application of technologies. In this paper, we propose an approximate method for solution of the heat and advection-diffusion equations using Laguerre-Gaussians radial basis functions (LG-RBFs). The results of numerical experiments are compared with the other radial basis functions and the results of other schemes to confirm the validit...

This paper proposes a numerical method to the two-dimensional hyperbolic equations with nonlocal integral conditions. The nonlocal integral equation is of major challenge in the frame work of the numerical solutions of PDEs. The method benefits from collocation radial basis function method, the generalized thin plate splines radial basis functions are used. Therefore, it does not require any str...

In the present paper, a numerical method is considered for solving one-dimensional heat equation subject to both Neumann and Dirichlet initial boundary conditions. This method is a combination of collocation method and radial basis functions (RBFs). The operational matrix of derivative for Laguerre-Gaussians (LG) radial basis functions is used to reduce the problem to a set of algebraic equatio...

This paper reformulates a time-discontinuous finite element method (TD-FEM) based on a new class of shape functions, called complex Fourier hereafter, for solving two-dimensional elastodynamic problems. These shape functions, which are derived from their corresponding radial basis functions, have some advantages such as the satisfaction of exponential and trigonometric function fields in comple...

Radial basis functions (RBFs) are a powerful tool for approximating the solution of high-dimensional problems. They are often referred to as a meshfree method and can be spectrally accurate. In this paper, we analyze a new stable method for evaluating Gaussian radial basis function interpolants based on the eigenfunction expansion. We develop our approach in two-dimensional spaces for so...
